CTM, Temple and Teaching Story...funny!

My companion is Elder Morrow and I can honestly say that I couldn't have gotten a better companion. We work well together and also have a ton of fun.

Sorry about last week and not sending an email. I ran out of time. We only get 50 minutes to email and it is not a lot of time when you have to read a ton of them and write a ton of them. I made sure to make time for this today though.

So this week was pretty great. We went to the temple and the endowment session was in Portuguese so it was fun.

The funniest thing is that we started giving lessons in Portuguese and have probably done 5 or 6 now. Anyway, we got a new investigator(its an instructor but they make it super real and they ask a ton of questions) anyway we asked if we could start with a prayer and he wanted to say it. He stood up and raised his arms above his head and started a very long and aggressive prayer while looking at the ceiling. Well, Elder Morrow and I lost it. It was so funny that we just couldn't stop laughing. I was able to stop before the prayer was over but when he was done he asked Elder Morrow why he was laughing at his prayer.  Elder Morrow just started fake coughing. He asked me why I thought he was laughing, I told him I had absolutely no clue. In the end, I asked if I could say a prayer and he accepted. As I was praying for him to be blessed with the holy ghost he yelled hallelujah and amen to almost everything. Once again Elder Morrow lost it. I surprisingly was able to hold it in. Thank goodness. Other than that the lesson was mostly us testifying of why he should pray to know if the Book of Mormon was true.

I want to also say how grateful I am for all of you and that i strongly believe that all of you have played an important role in preparing me for this; especially my parents. Now that I am completely on my own I realize how much they have prepared me for this experience. Every day I grow more and more thankful to them and all of you for the roles you have played in my life. I see things every day that make me understand the things that were expected of me in my home and in church. I can see how all of my church leaders, friends and family have played their role and been successful in spiritually preparing me to go serve the Lord, I love so much, for 2 years.  I am truly grateful for this opportunity to serve.

I am thankful for rice and beans because without those things I think I would starve to death. The food here is ham and cheese sandwiches for breakfast every day. And for lunch and dinner, there is always rice and beans accompanied by a gourmet entre of some mystery meat as we call it. Pretty sure I ate a pig foot the other day. It actually wasn't that bad.
Anyway, I love all of you guys.

The MTC has been a blast and honestly, I can't believe its been 2 weeks already.
Love, Elder Rhodes
