Miracle investigator family from ward mission leader

Well, it was another good week. Church this past Sunday was awesome. We had 8 investigators there!

Sheila and Socrates which are our best family were there at church with us.  They need to get married before being baptized.  They had their 6-year-old daughter perform in the primary program and it was so awesome. While on the stand, she kept waiving at me and Elder Costa the whole time.  During the program she went up and bore her testimony. It was so awesome.

Afterwards, we were talking with Sheila and she told us how Bianca had a friend at school that didn't believe in God.  She took the pamphlets that we had given them for our lessons and gave them to her friend. She is 6!  She said that her friend believes in God now.  :)

Before coming to church, Sheila and Socrates were in a fight and were debating not getting married or baptized. They had decided to come to church in support of Bianca while she performed in the primary program.  During gospel doctrine, we were talking about missionary work and how much we love blessing families and seeing their lives change.  President Bangereter (mission President) and his wife were in attendance; he stood up and bore his testimony about how he has a book of all the miracles in our mission and how they (Sheila and Socrates) are one of them. Sheila was touched and crying so much.  Afterwards, you could tell that her and Socrates were ok, they had realized a little fight was not more important than the happiness of their family.

Miracles like these are the things that makes a mission worthwhile.

We have 2 additional new families we are teaching.  Another couple need to get married, but the other family is made up of a mother and daughter; Julio and Yasmin are awesome and were a reference from a member and Mari and Alice were also a reference from a member but that story is kind of a miracle.

Here is how we found Mari and Alice. Our Ward mission leader is kind of inactive. I met him for the first time Saturday. He is pretty cool, but he doesn't help us as much as we would like. Last week we received a call from him and he gave us a reference. Immediately after Elder Costa said we need to pray and give thanks for this reference.  He said he has been in this area over 3 months and never received a reference from him. We tried to contact his reference 10 times with no luck. We basically gave up, but the other night I was like, lets just call one more time. Sure enough they picked up and were super excited and ready to receive us. We talked with them for 3 hours just about the church and our beliefs. We didn't even have time to teach an actual lesson. It was so awesome and the Spirit was for sure there. The feeling of just seeing a family and how the gospel changes there lives is absolutely amazing.

I have come to realize that numbers don't mean a thing. This week was the least amount of lessons we have taught, but I think it was probably our best week in the mission. We now have a steady and great pool of investigators.

On the down side. Augusto I think will be baptized November 3rd. Things just are not working out super well with his mom; I think. We are still working with him, and his mom likes us which is good. I don't know though, we will see what happens.

Anyway more good things than not so good happened this week so I'll keep the positivity going.

Love you guys,
Elder Rhodes
